Implementasi Studi TENSI sebagai Upaya Pencegahan Peningkatan Kejadian Hipertensi Masyarakat Pesisir Kota Ternate

Hipertensi merupakan faktor risiko utama penyakit kardiovaskular yang menjadi penyebab kematian serta kecacatan terbesar di dunia. Indonesia berkontribusi besar terhadap beban hipertensi global karena rendahnya tingkat pengobatan serta pengendalian penyakit, dua faktor yang diketahui dipengaruhi oleh tingkat pengetahuan dan karakter sosial masyarakat. Meski telah terdapat studi mengenai hipertensi pada sekelompok populasi Ternate (studi TENSI), implementasi penelitian tersebut diperlukan guna meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kewaspadaan masyarakat Maluku Utara mengenai hipertensi. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah melakukan sosialisasi studi TENSI, pemeriksaan tekanan darah dan gula darah sewaktu kepada warga kelurahan Fitu, Ternate. Dalam kegiatan ini, sebanyak 28 orang berpartisipasi: 75% perempuan, rerata usia + SD 48,2 + 2,9 tahun, rerata gula darah sewaktu + SD 122,1 + 9,6 mg/dL, dan 60,7% terdeteksi menderita hipertensi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa hipertensi masih menjadi ancaman kesehatan yang perlu diatasi bersama. Edukasi dan pemeriksaan tekanan darah rutin terhadap masyarakat pesisir Ternate harus dilaksanakan lebih giat dan bertarget.
